Impacts of this species
Spiny waterflea consumes zooplankton, a vital food source for native fish and crustaceans. It can also cluster on fishing lines and clog pole eyelets.
LHPRISM Notes
Spiny waterflea was introduced to the Great Lakes region in the ballast water of cargo ships. It has not yet been reported in the Lower Hudson PRISM.
